What have we been up to?

It’s been awhile since we entered a blog post. I just wanted to give everyone an update on what we have been up to.

We’re working hard developing some very cool features for JobLoft.com. Our minds are always running a mile a minute but we had to take a step back to analyze which features would job seekers and employers want the most. Total we have 4-6 very creative ideas, we’re just putting the finishing touches on one feature we’re launching next month.

We’ve been having amazing feedback from job seekers and employers on how easy our site. It’s always nice to read emails from job seekers who found their job using our site.

Thanks to all the JobLoft supporters out there (you know exactly who you are), without your help we wouldn’t be here today. I guess everyone loves the underdog story.

First time for everything……this is my first ever blog entry and podcast interview. Yes yes, running a web 2.0 site you would assume I would be all over blogsphere. There’s a time to speak and there’s a time to listen.. sometimes I prefer to listen.

Yesterday I had the privilege to experience my first ever podcast interview for a cool podcast show called Inside the Net. The hosts Amber MacArthur and Leo Laporte were amazing. As nervous as I was, they made the entire interview really comfortable. The location? The Drake Hotel, uber hip and trendy hot spot of downtown Toronto.

I first met Amber and Leo back in July at DemoCamp8 where Lee and myself gave a quick presentation on JobLoft.com.

I’ll have the podcast available when it’s released on Inside the Net, but in the meantime enjoy the pictures that were taken at The Drake Hotel.

I actually started this blog because of DemoCamp. Somebody mentioned that we had a lot of web 2.0 related stuff except a corporate blog. I thought it was a good idea and this lets us keep a running journal of what we’re up to.

On July 25, 2006, we attended DemoCamp 8 at No Regrets restaurant in Toronto. This was our first time demoing, as well as our first time at DemoCamp. We first heard about DemoCamp through David Crow at CaseCamp a few weeks prior and he mentioned that there would be one coming up and welcomed us to present.

We had a lot of fun demoing JobLoft.com. We had many features that we could potentially demo but we ended up only choosing 3 or 4 features to show: job search w/ajax + google maps, rss, add jobloft to your site and showing a list of our clients. We figured this way, we’d save more time for Q&A and to gather feedback/suggestions from the audience. We did end up receiving a lot of questions and feedback which was awesome.

The next day on July 26, we were scheduled to be featured in Metro News (Workology section - page 18). A few people from DemoCamp contacted us about seeing JobLoft in the paper. It was pretty exciting to see the 2 unrelated events to come together. We also scoured the web looking for various blogs talking about the event, in case people didn’t want to express any criticisms to us live. We’ve found that people tend to be much more direct and give their honest opinions in their own blogs. We were really pleased to see that overall, people liked the product and our demo in general.
